Braveheart is an American historical movie directed by and starring Mel Gibson and released in 1995. The film refers to the life of William Wallace, hero and symbol of Scottish independence. In the late thirteenth century, Wallace united the  Scottish clans and fought the forces of King Edward I^st of England, who attempted to invade Scotland. The movie shows two scenes of battles. Before the first one (the Battle of Stirling), William Wallace explains the strategy without  a map. In the second, the English discuss  their future strategy by putting on a map little blocks that represent the regiments.

Braveheart est un film historique américain réalisé et interprété par Mel Gibson, sorti en 1995. Il s’agit d’une évocation de la vie de William Wallace, héros et symbole de l’indépendance écossaise, qui à la fin du XIIIe siècle, affronta, à la tête des clans écossais unis, les troupes du roi Édouard I^er d’Angleterre qui tentait d’envahir l’Écosse. En particulier, le film présente deux scènes de batailles. Avant la première (la Bataille de Stirling), William Wallace explique verbalement la stratégie à appliquer sans support cartographique. En revanche, pour la deuxième, les anglais mettent au point la stratégie à employer en s’appuyant sur une carte sur laquelle sont posés des blocs représentant les régiments mis en jeu.
