Fantastic Mr Fox is a great animated film by Wes Anderson. It incorporates several space machineries, mostly master plans and battle plans. One of them takes the form of an animated map. The most original is certainly the picture painted by Felicity Fox to support the fight of « wild animals » against evil farmers. She uses it to locate the feat in battle, the buildings blown up, etc.  The painting is realistic since it faithfully represents the fantasy world and the amazing perspective adopted by the film. But it also evokes the traditional oil paintings representing the general view of a city thet one can fin in museums. This is an example of a successful mise en abymes, that illustrates the extraordinary graphic virtuosity of the movie. The reality of the imaginary world of Wes Anderson is enhanced by its representation within the movie.

Fantastic Mr Fox, superbe film d’animation de Wes Anderson, intègre plusieurs dispositifs spatiaux, pour la plupart de type plan de bataille ou plan d’action. L’un d’entre eux prend d’ailleurs la forme d’une carte animée. Le plus original de ces dispositifs est certainement le tableau peint par Felicity Fox pour accompagner l’action menée par les « animaux sauvages » contre les infâmes fermiers. Elle y marque les faits d’arme, les bâtiments dynamités, etc.. Le tableau est de facture réaliste en ce sens qu’il représente fidèlement le monde fantaisiste et les perspectives improbables du film. Mais il évoque aussi les tableaux présentant les vues générales de cités de l’époque classique, que l’on trouve dans les musées. C’est un exemple de mise en abymes réussie et une illustration de la virtuosité plastique du film. La réalité du monde imaginaire de Wes Anderson est renforcée par sa représentation à l’intérieur même du film.
