Pur week-end

Relief maps have a rather elegant rendering. Despite their decorative aspect, they are quite rare in fiction movies. This post attempts to begin an inventory of films with relief maps, beginning by 4 French movies.

Les cartes en relief donnent un résultat assez élégant. Cependant il est plutôt rare d’en rencontrer dans les œuvres de fiction. Ce billet commence un inventaire de ce types de carte en relief au cinéma avec 4 films français.

The film Angosto has already been reviewed on this blog. The relief map is visible at the 27th minute.

In Persécution, film by Patrice Chéreau, a relief map hung on the wall appears very furtively behind the protagonists.

In Avant l’aube, a relief map is hung on the living room wall of the main characters.

In Pur weekend, a film by Oliver Doran, a scene shows the police inspector played by François Berléand studying the relief map in the presence of the witness/suspect played by Kad Mérad. Another map can be seen on the wall in the background. In this case, the map is not used only as a decorative element.

Dans Avant l’aube, La carte apparaît sur le mur du salon des personnages principaux.

Dans Pur week-end, film d’Oliver Doran, une scène montre l’inspecteur de police (interprété par François Berléand) étudiant la carte en relief en présence du témoin/suspect (interprété par Kad Mérad) ; on en aperçoit aussi une autre, affichée sur le mur du bureau. La carte n’est pas uniquement utilisée ici comme élément décoratif.
