Carte interactive de la promenade Littéraire du Havre

The city of Le Havre (France) has now its literary tour map. Drawing on the work of Bertrand Westphal on Geocriticism, Sonia Anton, professor of literature at the University of Le Havre, has developed a literary tour of the city through 20 places evoked by famous writers like Jean-Paul Sartre and Honoré de Balzac. This project inscribes these literary works in the real, since each of the 20 selected places is associated with a bench installed in the city, while offering the opportunity to explore them virtually through a very well designed interactive website, in which anyone can navigate the works mentioned via an interactive map. This project is a perfect example of interactions between real and fictional places as synthesized by the author:

« This literary tour map illustrates the system of interactions between the real and its fictional representation as implied in the geocritism method. It brings transformations to urban space and offers a material example of this system of interactions. Furthermore, it puts in parallel different types of representations of Le Havre. Le Havre a désormais sa promenade littéraire cartographiée. En s’inspirant des travaux de Bertrand Westphal sur la géocritique, Sonia Anton, enseignante-chercheur en littérature à l’université du Havre propose une promenade littéraire dans la ville à travers 20 lieux haverais évoqués par des écrivains et artistes célèbres comme Jean-Paul Sartre ou Raymond Queneau. Ce projet inscrit ces œuvres dans le réel, puisque chacun de ces 20 lieux est associé à un banc installé dans la ville, tout en offrant la possibilité d’explorer ces lieux et ces œuvres de manière virtuelle par l’intermédiaire d’un site web interactif très bien conçu, dans lequel on peut notamment naviguer à l’aide d’une carte interactive. Ce projet est un exemple parfait d’interactions entre lieux réels et fictionnels comme le synthétise l’auteur de ce site :

«  Le parcours littéraire illustre le système d’interactions entre le réel et sa représentation fictionnelle que sous-tend la méthode géocritique. Il apporte des transformations à l’espace urbain et offre un exemple matériel de ce système d’interactions. De plus, il met en en parallèle différents types de représentations du Havre.
