Elective Affinities (1996) is a movie directed by Paolo and Vittorio Taviani based on the novel by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Edouard (Jean-Hugues Anglade) and Charlotte (Isabelle Huppert), a couple of aristocrats, invited a childhood friend of Edouard (Fabrizio Bentivoglio) to join them in their villa in Tuscany. This friend is an architect. In the first part of the film he redevelops the area. He uses a theodolite to survey the field, draws a plan and builds a model.

Les Affinités électives (Le Affinità elettive) est un film de Paolo et Vittorio Taviani réalisé en 1996 d’après le roman de Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Edouard (Jean-Hugues Anglade) et Charlotte (Isabelle Huppert), un couple d’aristocrates, invitent un ami d’enfance d’Edouard (Fabrizio Bentivoglio) à les rejoindre dans leur villa en Toscane. Cet ami architecte va dans la première partie du film réaménager le domaine. Pour cela, il utilise un théodolite pour arpenter le terrain, dessine un plan et construit une maquette.
