The Gingerbread Man (1998) is a thriller directed by Robert Altman. The lawyer Rick Magruder (Kenneth Branagh) helps young and pretty Mallory Doss, harassed by his father. He launches a procedure to confine him to a mental institution. Several maps are shown in the movie.

A hurricane (Geraldo) is approaching. Robert Altman uses repeatedly televised weather reports to illustrate its arrival. Some of these reports incorporate maps (22th, 50th, 51st, 53rd, 54th minutes) and even a satellite animation (54th minute).

Certains sont accompagnés de cartes (22ième, 50ième, 51ième, 53ième, 54ième minutes) et même pour l’un d’entre-eux, d’une animation satellite (54ième minute).

Autre carte très importante, celle à l’aide de laquelle Madruger comprendra le fin mot de l’histoire. Il s’agit d’un plan cadastral, consulté au service des impôts du Conté de Chatham, concernant les terrains dont le père de Mallory est propriétaire (87ième minute).
